The Titlow Hotel & Grille is one of the most spectacular buildings in Fayette County. The food is extraordinary and the ambience is unmatched.
George Titlow opened the Hotel Titlow in 1905 as the most costly hostelry in Fayette County. The floors and walls were made of marble and a huge fireplace was built in the dining area. Many of the suites also boasted fireplaces as Titlow spent $200,000 building this elegant hotel.
As business prospered a fourth floor was added and the hotel extended back to Peter Street. The Titlow Hotel earned a statewide reputation as headquarters for wealthy politicians and coal barons.
During prohibition, Titlow sold to the Reagans saying, “You can’t run a hotel without spirits. Some say Titlow’s spirit still walks the halls of the fourth floor of the hotel. Some say, “You can’t keep a good man down” … The spirits are BACK… and you are invited to meet them…
