Thank YOU Uniontown

When the distribution of collection containers to local businesses seeking support for the Storey Square Summer Concert Series was first discussed at a Promotions Committee meeting, opinions were mixed. After all, the Uniontown Downtown Business District Authority and Main Street Program offer FREE concerts during the summer in Storey Square. We never wanted the public to feel obliged to pay. Then, as the economy continued to slump, our regular supporters were finding it more difficult to make even small donations toward programs like Storey Square. The decision was inevitable. We needed to give the public an opportunity to make small donations on a regular basis.

Joyce Gogoel, proprietor of The Tonsorial Parlor provided the containers and assured us that her customers are indeed generous. “You can put a container in my shop”, she said. “People in the community would support something they enjoy.” She was right! We were astounded recently when the first round of collection containers were picked up.  A total of $93.50 was donated in support of the Storey Square Summer Concert Series. Barrera’s Shoe & Leather Repair gets the Smooshed Penny Award for collecting a total of $28.18.

You have supported the series with your dollars and your positive feedback, and we wanted to say, “Thank YOU!”

Plan to join us every Thursday through September 1st.
